SONGS OF GREATNESS<\/strong><\/p>\n Our church organist, Kris Scheff, gained an appreciation for his music when she worked with his group.\u00a0 She was the reason that he gave a concert in our community several years ago.\u00a0 I listened closely to her music as she played the prelude in church this morning.\u00a0 I recognized his music.\u00a0 It is a part of her and she wanted to share it with all of us.\u00a0 I wondered if she wanted to make sure that we remembered his music.<\/p>\n It has been several years since the time of his concert, yet I recognized his music.\u00a0 The music has a \u201cremembering effect\u201d on me.\u00a0 I can see him as he presented the music at the concert.\u00a0 His concerts in the park were truly a \u201cmountain top experience.\u201d<\/p>\n I will also always remember her statement.\u00a0 My wife was waiting for me in the park after the other people had gone.\u00a0 She sat at a picnic table in the quietness of the afternoon.\u00a0 I asked her what she was thinking about and her reply was something wonderful.\u00a0 She told me that she was JUST LISTENING.\u00a0 She told of being able to hear the music once again.\u00a0 The music was so powerful that time could not contain it.<\/p>\n It is rare to meet someone of true greatness.\u00a0 I believe this happened when I met John Ylvisaker.\u00a0 His music is a part of me as it is to so many others.<\/p>\n JUST LISTENING produces not only sound and word.\u00a0 It produces a feeling.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The following essay was written on November 25, 2007 by Darwin R.
